Become A Metis Citizen
For Metis citizens living in Winnipeg Region, we are your main contact for new citizenship applications, confirmation for existing Metis citizens, and renewals for existing Metis cards! Please see the relevant forms below for additional information.
METIS EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING
Here To Assist Your Career Development
Metis Employment and Training provides a wide range of services to clients seeking employment and training. These services include: needs assessment & career planning, job search assistance including resume & cover letter preparation, access to labour market and academic program information, referral and sponsorship to skills training and employment programs to enhance employability and referral to employers.
Metis Hunting, Fishing, Trapping, and Gathering
The Manitoba Metis Federation and the Province of Manitoba entered into an agreement that recognizes Metis rights to harvest for natural resources for food and domestic use within a defined area of Manitoba. The Winnipeg Region is responsible for issuing annual Harvester Tags to Metis Harvesters living in the Winnipeg Region.
Resources and Programming for Metis Youth
Youth Programs focus on providing employment and training supports & services to Youth across the province and are designed to develop and strengthen work ethic, community engagement, leadership abilities, provide opportunities for career exploration and enhance employability & life skills. Programs support social development and encourage life-long learning by providing opportunities for career exploration, skill development, work experience, employment preparation, job search supports, and entrepreneurship. We encourage and support our Youth by celebrating their achievements and successes throughout their journey.
PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM
Metis Health Benefits for Metis Citizens over 65
The Prescription Drug Program will pay your MMF calculated deductible throughout the year for Pharmacare-eligible prescription drugs.
Metis Citizens age 65 and older with an annual income of $25,000 or less, and who use MEDOCare Pharmacy for prescription dispensing and delivery are eligible for this program.

FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS PROGRAM
A One-Time Grant for Eligible Métis Citizens
The Louis Riel Capital Corporation is proud to present grants for down payments on the purchase of a home to a maximum of 5% of the purchase price up to $15,000 plus purchase closing costs of 1.5% of the purchase price up to a cap of $2,500 to address Métis housing needs in the Province of Manitoba.
While the Winnipeg Region does not provide this service, we are more than happy to provide you with general information about this program.
